Dr. David Shorez is extremely grateful for all of the patients who have been a part of his journey at Flushing Dental Care! Dr. Shorez grew up in the Clio area and was very excited to join the dental office in July 2012 as an Associate Dentist. In August 2013, he took over ownership of Flushing Dental Care. Dr. Shorez is continually looking for ways to innovate the office to provide the best dental care to his patients. In 2013, Dr. Shorez became certified in Invisalign to provide patients with a more cosmetic approach to straightening their teeth. He also brought digital x-rays to the office for reduced radiation, instantaneous imaging, and the ability to enhance and contrast images to make more accurate dental diagnoses. Over the years, Dr. Shorez has also completed training in implant placement, sinus lift surgery, bone grafting, nitrous oxide administration, and sleep apnea. Dr. Shorez finds it very gratifying to continue learning new techniques and procedures to enhance patients’ smiles to their fullest!

Dr. Shorez is a 2012 graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. In 2011, while in dental school, he traveled to Honduras with a group of classmates for a dental missionary trip. He found the trip very humbling and rewarding. Dr. Shorez earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Medical Technology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Michigan-Flint.

Dr. Shorez is a member of the American Dental Association and Michigan Dental Association. He is also a member of the Genesee District Dental Society, where he collaborates with dental colleagues and completes Continuing Education courses to stay on the leading edge of dentistry. As a lifelong community member, Dr. Shorez finds it meaningful to serve the patients of Flushing and the surrounding area.

When he is not caring for his patients, Dr. Shorez enjoys running, golfing, cheering for the Detroit Tigers and Lions, spending time with friends and family, and making memories with his two daughters. Thinking about Flushing Dental Care’s patients brings a smile to Dr. Shorez’s face!

Dr. Natalya Brezden completed her undergraduate studies at Wayne State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In 1989, she graduated from the University of Michigan School Of Dentistry. 

Upon graduation, she worked for two years as an associate dentist in Yale, Lapeer and Grand Blanc. In September 1991, she began practicing dentistry in Flushing, Michigan. Dr. Brezden is a member of the American Dental Society, Michigan Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Allen Mortimer completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2008 and graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry (in Dallas, Texas) in May 2012. Some of Dr. Mortimer’s achievements in dental school include the General Dentistry Award, Dean’s List (2008-2012), the Odontological Honor Society, and graduating in the top 10 of his dental class. Dr. Mortimer is an active member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Genesee District Dental Society.

Dr. Mortimer and his wife, Laura, married in 2008 and are having so much fun raising their children. Outside the dental office, Dr. Mortimer enjoys spending time with his family, as well as watching and playing sports. He serves at his church in the choir and as an usher, youth group leader and treasurer. Dr. Mortimer is excited to be able to practice dentistry at Flushing Dental Care and continue the tradition of relevant, friendly, and proficient care for every patient.

Growing up in Flushing and graduating from Flushing High School in 2013, Dr. Michaela Cogo is honored and incredibly excited to return to her hometown to provide dental care to the community that has helped raise her and shape her into the person she is today.

Dr. Cogo completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan-Flint and earned a Bachelor of Science degree while there.

Dr. Cogo went on to graduate from the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry in Ann Arbor. She has practiced General Dentistry in the Genesee County area since 2020. As a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Genesee District Dental Society, Dr. Cogo is continually expanding her knowledge of dentistry and staying current and up-to-date in the profession. When away from the dental office, Dr. Cogo enjoys spending time up north, hiking and having board game nights with friends and family.

We are confident that everyone will feel comfortable, at ease, and welcome when they meet Dr. Cogo as she is exceptionally personable, kind, and attentive. We are so pleased and overjoyed to have Dr. Cogo be a part of our team!
